After finding myself unemployed in today’s highly competitive job market, I was skeptical of career coaches who began appearing in my LinkedIn messages. Friends urged caution, and LinkedIn was full of opinions claiming “job coaches don’t work.” I evaluated four programs, including Josh’s Career Vision Coaching (CVC).
I chose Josh’s program because he offered a contrarian perspective rather than a sales pitch. The other programs were too expensive, too polished, or lacked the distinct perspective I needed. I specifically wanted someone who wasn’t an echo chamber, knowing I would be interviewing with people different from me.
Before CVC, I had landed every role through networking. While networking still matters, it isn’t enough on its own. Josh’s program exposed gaps in my self-awareness about how I was showing up in interviews. I was used to a “good enough” resume and a couple of interviews getting me offers. That doesn’t work anymore.
The strategy work and resume revamp helped me focus on roles where I was genuinely competitive. The story framework took time to understand, but once it clicked, everything changed. I learned to give specific examples, demonstrate strategy, and tailor my approach depending on whether I was speaking with a recruiter or the CPO.
The CVC Slack community was one of my favorite parts. I attended nearly every office hours session and learned as much from watching others as from my own practice.
The result was a role at a great company just over three months after starting the program, with a 9x ROI on my investment in Josh’s program. For a structured, practical, and effective way to compete in today’s market, I’d recommend Josh without hesitation.
